With these seriously impressive credentials, we simply had to visit to check out the goodies.
Kyneton is a very interesting country town and the café is right smack along the main street of shops. There are indoor and outdoor dining seats available in the cafe and of course, takeaway service as well. We arrived just before lunch time and already there was a crowd of hungry people milling around the long counter. The overhead menu board boasts a wide range of pies, tarts, hot drinks etc and to the un-initiated, it could well be mind boggling.
They serve Beef Pies, Chicken Pies, Seafood Pies, Gourmet Pies, Vegetarian & Vegan Pies, Gluten Free Pies, Sausage Rolls and Pastries, Cakes & Slices and a range of drinks as well. We did our research beforehand and came prepared.
The counter staff quickly took our order of a lobster mushroom pie, a chicken mushroom pie and two hot drinks. Service was very quick despite the crowd and soon we were seated within the café with our prized pies.
Both pies did not disappoint.
The lobster & mushroom pie came with 5 or 6 meaty chunks of lobster meat inside. Very flavourful indeed. Tender pieces of succulent chicken were found in the chicken & mushroom pie.
In all, the experience was positive and we would return to try the other items on the vast menu!
