Music, art and creative pursuits are a big part of our lives, which is one reason why we moved from Singapore to Melbourne. Whilst Singapore has progressed in leaps and bounds on the arts scene, cities like Melbourne remain streaks ahead. There is so much to see and do in Melbourne every weekend.
Walking along the Yarra River, visiting the NGV and Federation Square or enjoying the entertainment offered by street baskers adds some spice to our lives. Art sculptures and street art located all over the city contributes to the creative atmosphere and vibe as well.
Street Art Walkabout
Did you know that there is an easy walk that you can take to enjoy the numerous street art within the Melbourne CBD? Starting from Duckboard Place, you then head down to the very famous AC/DC Lane and then onwards to Hosier Lane.
As the walls are painted over by artists regularly, the lanes never look the same. Every visit promises to be different.
Hosier Lane isn’t the only laneway that is features street art. There are many lanes in Melbourne that feature similar art, eg. Rutledge Lane. All you need to do is wander around the city to find them. Or join a walking tour.
We went back a few weeks ago to have a look at the various lanes again and boy, have there been many changes.
Walking onwards from Hosier Lane, head for Flinders Way to marvel at the giant mural of a sleeping woman specially commissioned for Brunetti Oro. Press onwards to Presgrave Place and you will be rewards with walls full of framed mixed media works.
Strolling onwards to Drewery Lane, there you will find handmade mosaic tiles adorning the walls.
Guildford Lane will be the final stop in your quest for the fun and quirky.
Do make a trip to the city to see the ever changing wall art scenes.
