Are there any good restaurants in the western suburbs serving Japanese cuisine at affordable price points? Sure there are!
We have been patronising Shokuya @ Co situated at the Tarneit Central Shopping Centre for quite a while now. The food is delectable and easy on the wallet. It is a clean and no frills restaurant serving food for the masses.
Location: Shop 4A, Tarneit Central Shopping Centre, 540 Derrimut Road, Tarneit, VIC 3029

Service is quick and fuss free. You simply show up and the smiling wait staff will direct you to a table. Choosing from a wide menu, you make payment at the counter and then sit back to wait for the dishes to be served (usually within 15 minutes).
The Char Siu Shokuya Don is every bit as tasty as it looks. We liked the pork pieces as they were tender and melt in your mouth.
The Okonomiyaki came next. This dish is basically a savoury version of the popular Japanese pancake. Crispy and crunchy at the same time, each bite took us closer to food heaven.
With every visit, we always order a serve of the Agedashi Tofu. The fried tofu pieces are soft on the inside and comes with a delectable sauce.
If you love french fries, you will certainly like the Korrokke served at Shokuya. The amazing purple coloured bites sized pieces always made our day.
We rounded up the meal with a bowl of Chicken Katsudon. This is a ubiquitous dish found in also all Japanese eateries. The version served at Shokuya is on par with many other places.
Do check out the restaurant out when you are in Tarneit.
You might just see us there!
